Alexander Dubček: the Human Face of Politics

The photo exhibition titled: “Alexander Dubček: the Human Face of Politics” was inaugurated with a reception at Suna Çokgür Ilıcak Art Gallery of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) on November 24th, 2016 with the participation of the members of MFA, Slovak Embassy and the diplomatic community in Ankara.

On the occasion of the exhibition, H.E. Anna Turenicova, Ambassador of Slovakia and H.E. Ambassador Gülhan Ulutekin, Director General for Europe at MFA and former Ambassador of Turkey to Slovakia addressed the audience and related the life of Dubček and his connection to Turkey.

During the reception, having viewed the photos reflecting the important moments in Dubček’s life, H.E. Ambassador Ümit Yalçın, Undersecretary of the Ministry, reminisced that Dubček paid an official visit to Turkey on February 26th, 1992 in his capacity as the Speaker of the Federal Parliament of Czechoslovakia during which he also held a meeting with late Erdal İnönü, then Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of State, where Ambassador Yalçın, then Third Secretary at the Europe Desk, was the note taker.

The exhibition may be visited during working hours till December 1, 2016.
